renowned eyewear designer Oliver Peoples, in business since 1986, carries a very bold mission statement “to be the most prestigious & culturally distinctive eyewear brand in the world”. we must admit, so far so good, for the west hollywood based brand. bringing on board a host of tasteful celebrities and style icons for collaborative purposes, Oliver Peoples has managed to climb to the forefront of recognized eyewear labels. check out a very simple timeline of their history here.
aside from making us drool over their carefully curated designs, what really inspired us to write about Oliver Peoples is their amazing new campaign for 2011, featuring the all-around-awesome Devendra Banhart and his real-life girlfriend, Rebecca Schwartz. the short film is set in jon lautner’s architectural masterpiece, the rainbow house. here, the young couple is set free to roam around while wearing some of the label’s iconic styles. much credit needs to be given to the campaign’s producer, lisa eisner, who captured the couple’s intimacy as well as the brand’s identity in what seems an effortless and casual way.
