sixpack france = born again revisited!

one of our favorite modern fashion brands, sixpack france (twitter: @sixpack_france), has recently made available their newest collection titled “born again revisited”. their main attraction lies in their awesome collaborations with contemporary fine artists, such as Cody Hudson (whom we wrote about here), Jonathan Zawada, or Rafael Garnier to name a few. their AW11 collection is the natural continuation of their previous one “dust to dust” and it represents the simple intention of bringing the focus back to the products. for the collection’s shoot, they have collaborated with french graphic designers lvl-studio and photographer samuel cornillet. visit the sixpack france shop for more infos and check out some of our favorite pieces below…

oliver peoples = distinctive eyewear for the peoples!

renowned eyewear designer Oliver Peoples, in business since 1986, carries a very bold mission statement “to be the most prestigious & culturally distinctive eyewear brand in the world”. we must admit, so far so good, for the west hollywood based brand. bringing on board a host of tasteful celebrities and style icons for collaborative purposes, Oliver Peoples has managed to climb to the forefront of recognized eyewear labels. check out a very simple timeline of their history here.

aside from making us drool over their carefully curated designs, what really inspired us to write about Oliver Peoples is their amazing new campaign for 2011, featuring the all-around-awesome Devendra Banhart and his real-life girlfriend, Rebecca Schwartz. the short film is set in jon lautner’s architectural masterpiece, the rainbow house. here, the young couple is set free to roam around while wearing some of the label’s iconic styles. much credit needs to be given to the campaign’s producer, lisa eisner, who captured the couple’s intimacy as well as the brand’s identity in what seems an effortless and casual way.

visit Oliver Peoples‘ website for more info or follow their twitter @oliver_peoples for live updates from their headquarter’s in california.

folk clothing = intricate simplicity!

we recently came across a fantastic clothing brand while shopping at sportivo in madrid (the store alone warrants a post by itself). folk clothing is a london based casual menswear brand born in 2001; they also started making shoes for both men and women in 2004. their mission statement: “making clean, honest understated garments with a meticulous eye for colour, fabric selection and design detail. we create simple everday clothing with subtle, innovative and sometimes playful detailing”. something they definitely achieve with high marks.

not only are their clothes unique, but so is their production process: they make alpaca knits in peru, shirts in portugal, jackets in hong kong, accessories in england, and merino knitwear in uruguay. in this day and age where everything is outsourced to a place with cheap labour, it’s encouraging to come across a brand that is worried with finding the best possible supplier for each product. we’ll take quality over quantity any day of the week!

there are currently only four folk stores, three in london and one in amsterdam, but there are plenty of places that carry their clothes. click for a full list of stockists. check out their website and follow them on twitter @folkclothing for further details. also, make sure to check out the video below, previewing their autumn/winter 2010 collection.
