outliers vol I = a scenic documentary!

we are really glad this amazing looking project has reached its funding goal via the awesome kickstarter website. chicago based studio Scenic in collaboration with outstanding photographers Tim Navis and Kim Høltermand, plus electronic music composer Deru, are now set to embark on a journey to explore uncharted terrains of remote Iceland and document the entire experience with the goal of producing a beautifully packaged box set of the film in blu-ray quality, a photo book, and companion soundtrack.

.
one of the many highlights of the project is its proposed soundtrack, curated by the aforementioned Deru, it will feature music from some of our favorite producers. goldmund, shigeto, ryuichi sakamoto, loscil, tycho, and take are just some of the names that will be providing exclusive soundscapes to accompany the visual side of  this yet to be commenced journey. you can preview a couple of the cuts below.

although the project has already surpassed its funding goal, there’s still a few hours to go before it moves into its next phase. that means there’s still time to support it and more importantly to get a hold of one of its many limited rewards. for instance by pledging 80$ or more you can grab a limited photo book + a box set containing the blu-ray disc, a music CD, a booklet, and a digital download version. hurry up and pledge some well worth money to this much promising project! in the meantime check out more details via kickstarter or follow @ScenicStudio on twitter for current updates

colectivo digs seabear!

last month’s front runner for most-listened-to band a colectivo futuro’s HQ is non other than icelandic septet Seabear. currently signed to notorious berlin-based indie label Morr Music, the band has recently released their second full length in the form of “we built a fire“. what started as a solo project for Sindri Már Sigfússon, has slowly morphed into a striking ensemble of multi-faceted musicians, whose input is valued equally during the creative process. including members from iconic bands, such as sigur rós or múm, the band’s signature sound is a mixture of naive indie folk, fragile experimental, and icelandic DIY pop.

another cool aspect about the band is the fact that all artwork and videos (seen below) are hand made by Sindri’s partner and band mate Ingibjörg Birgisdóttir, which helps tie their sound and visual aesthetic perfectly together. despite their multi-instrumental lineup, Seabear‘s music is not one to blow you away, instead their productions will captivate your heart with their introspective, lo-fi approach.

we truly recommend you check them out! you can do so via spotify or their own website

eyjafjallajökull = music for icelandic volcanoes!

original photo by Lucas Jackson for Reuters

as you all know by now, a few weeks ago a powerful icelandic volcano wrecked havoc across most of Europe with its massive dust clouds, virtually paralyzing air traffic across the continent for several days. this alone should be enough to hate on an otherwise quiet and tranquil country, but we at colectivo futuro want to help Iceland make amends for such mess via this 20-track Spotify playlist, showcasing a wide range of icelandic musicians. ranging from classic Björk to newcomers Jónsi formerly of Sigur Rós or Emiliana Torrini, and touching up on the modern classicism of Jóhann Jóhannsson. overall, icelandic music is highly introspective and melancholic, which is probably the best companion for days with quiet skies.
