everynone = making videos about everyone!

everynone is an LA & NY based boutique production company formed by will hoffman, daniel mercadante, and julius metoyer III. there is very little information on their website about the studio’s background, but regardless of their mysterious existence you should check out each and every single one of their people-inspired short films. recently, they created a wonderful short, titled “words” for WNYC’s podcast: radio lab. the 3 minute-long promo video is a captivating buildup of random life occurrences both good and bad.

also worth watching is their “everyone forever now” series. their main theme being “an examination of the collective wisdom and expression of human actions”. the three available installments; tanning, shooting a gun, and stoop sitting; can be seen below.

i’m here = a robot love story by spike jonze!

renowned director spike jonze has teamed up with absolut vodka to create a short film about a love relationship between two robots living in LA. the result is nothing short of stunning. spike has crafted a 30-minute, visually appealing and emotionally captivating story. as spike himself said in a recent interview for spanish design magazine neo2: “Absolut did not ask me to make a film about vodka, instead they wanted me to create something that was important to me; and allow my imagination to take me anywhere”.

the film, which originally aired at this year’s sundance festival, is now being screened on its official site: i’m here movie. there’s limited availability, but the number of slots should be more than enough for everyone to watch. soundtrack wise, the film features original material by sam spiegel and aska matsumiya, who provided the main song “there are many of us”.

seconhand sureshots = a crate-digger’s point of view!

“secondhand sureshots is a filmed experiment in creative sound recycling”. directed by LA based future.roots.radio dublab, the film focuses on the crate-diggin’ adventure of renowned producers daedelus, j.rocc, nobody, and ras g; as they venture into various thrift shops in search of the most obscure records, which will then be used to craft brand new tracks. this dvd brilliantly captures the process of sampling in very detailed form and it’s truly a must for lovers of sample based hip-hop from the likes of dilla, madlib, dj shadow, et al. alongside the dvd is a cd of newly produced tracks exclusive to this project. there’s also a deluxe super set available for vinyl lovers, containing 12″ slipmats, hand printed cover LP, and the dvd.


also available is a j.rocc mixtape made exclusively from unused vinyl collected for the project. the mix can be found via the stones throw podcast by clicking here.

secondhand sureshots has been released mar. 9, 2010 as a dvd & cd, and is distributed by stones throw. it can also be bought from boomkat if you’re in the EU.
