recently, clothing brand stussy produced a 3 part documentary on the life of beat-master extraordinaire j dilla. the short film focuses on dilla’s life during his later years in los angeles. born on february 7, 1974, james dewitt yancey emerged from the mid 90′s detroit underground hip-hop scene. he is most known for his productions for busta rhymes, de la soul, and common, among others. upon his death in 2006, jaydee’s influence on hip hop production became more apparent, due to the amount of interest surrounding his unreleased catalogue.
