oliver brunetti: colectivo futurecast 046

We’ve been naggin’ Oliver Brunetti, one of our resident DJs, about doing a mix for our Futurecast series for quite some time. His record collection is deep and his record bag always weighs a ton. But a close friend of his has been waiting even longer: 6 years ago he promised her a Roy Ayers mix when she said she wanted more Roy in her life. A recently fixed turntable sparked the inspiration to finally deliver that mix, but with so many classics and personal favorites to choose from, he’s had to split the task into two parts. Here we have the first of Oliver’s Roy Ayers mixes, heavy on the slow jams that Roy had locked down just as firmly as the faster boogie and disco. The classic Ubiquity era features heavily here, and there are a few productions for other artists, such as RAMP and artists on his own Uno Melodic record label. Is there a more fitting soundtrack for the start of summer?

Artwork is taken from a portrait of Roy Ayers.
